Ingredients:

For the Salisbury Steak:

  • 750 grams of pounds ground beef
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • For the Garlic Mashed Potatoes:
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Mushroom & Onion Gravy:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Salisbury Steak:

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 4 oval patties.

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes:

3. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 20 minutes. Add garlic to the pot in the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Drain potatoes and garlic, then return to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Mushroom & Onion Gravy:

5. In the same pan used for the patties, add additional olive oil if needed. Add onion and mushrooms and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and onions, stirring to coat.

Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly. Cook until the gravy has thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spooning the gravy over the top. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to reheat the steaks.

Serve the Salisbury steaks with a generous helping of garlic mashed potatoes and top with the mushroom and onion gravy.
